Would you like to join our top class, professional driving team?   We place a high value on first class driving and customer care skills - and the ability to work as part of a team - and would love to hear from anyone with these credentials who is looking for either full or part time employment, particularly as one of our highly valued, longstanding drivers will be retiring shortly.  We can offer regular local work or more varied duties that include the opportunity to travel further afield!  In return, we will value your skills and  the part you play in our team - and will be happy to discuss a mutually beneficial working arrangement. If you would like to know more about our Door-2-Door holidays and you're a member of a local organisation, why not invite us to come along to one of your  meetings?  One of our most experienced team members, Les Staniforth, will come along and present an illustrated talk about our holiday and day tour programme - and also tell you something of our origins and subsequent development.  We are now taking bookings for dates in January, February and March 2018, so please call 01778 342224 or email if you would like to see if we are available on any dates that are convenient for you.  (We may also have a few dates available in April this year).

Good news if you're one of the many 'frequent flyer' customers, who travel with us on three (or more) holidays each year!  We will be continuing our Loyalty Discount in appreciation of your support - the more you book, the more you save!  Discounts are also available on many tours if you're a member of organisations like the National Trust and English Heritage.

WE'RE OPEN MON-FRI, 09:00-17:30. Call, email or better still, pop in to see us!

Sad to say that at the end of March, we said goodbye to our popular driver, Ken Peplar, who has retired after completing almost 30 years' service with us.  Ken has been another highly valued member of our team and we'll miss his calm, professional demeanour and his many years' of experience.  Goodness knows how many times he's driving up and down the A1 to the London theatre in the last 29 years! We wish him a long and very happy retirement.

We're delighted to welcome David Hedison back to the team for what we hope will be the second and last time!  David's experience was sorely missed when he left a year or so ago to try something new and it's a pleasure to have him back.

CONGRATULATIONSCongratulations - and a BIG thankyou to our driver, Les Staniforth, who completed 40 years' service with us on 14 March!  Those of you who know Les don’t need us to tell you what a wonderful ambassador he is for the firm and for his profession.   He’s been all over the UK and Europe with our tour customers and with private groups, many of whom ask to travel with him again and again.  His stories are legendary, although we are hoping he might come up with some new jokes during the next 40 years!!

Lots of our customers are planning a spring holiday!   This week's most popular holiday choices have included Weston-super-Mare and Jersey!  If this lovely sunshine is making you want to book a holiday, then why not take a look at our May tours to Scotland, Bournemouth or Snowdonia & Anglesey? Sue may also still be able to secure places on our  April departure to Dublin & Co. Wicklow.  (She placed a booking for our Easter tour less than 24 hours before it left for Ayrshire!).

It’s been another great week for day trip bookings - thank you so much for all your bookings from our  new Spring/Summer Out&About brochure.  Please bear with us as we are running a little behind on ticketing due to the volume of bookings that have come in, but Angela (assisted by Jenny & Sue) has been doing a grand job in catching up.    Best sellers during the last few days have included May departures to the Emmerdale Experience, Essex Heritage Rail & Road and Bury St. Edmunds & The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary.  Looking further ahead, Skipton & The Dales in July and the Solent Cruise Ships in August have been particularly popular, along with our visit to Hull in October and the Lion King in November.

Jane & Angela have been to see a preview of An American in Paris at London's Dominion Theatre.  It's such a lovely show, so refreshing, with lovely singing and dancing, most especially if you love the grace and elegance of ballet.  We were also really impressed by the stage sets - so cleverly designed and, clearly, the critics agree with them that this is a must-see show!  So, don't miss our 7 June departure!  Jane has also seen 42nd Street and was equally impressed - the tap dancing routines were fabulous, the stage sets and costumes were gorgeous and it's a really happy, feel-good show - we've being singing '42nd Street' ever since.  Don't miss our 10th May trip to see the show at Drury Lane Theatre Royal - it's great value at £55 pp!

Whilst in London, Jane took the opportunity to visit the David Hockney Exhibition at Tate Britain and, if you love his art do, please, snap up one of the last few remaining tickets for our 4th May day trip.  There are 12 rooms full of a wonderful selection of his work from his years as a student in London right through to the present day.   Each room is dedicated to a particular type of work and, whilst it's almost impossible to pick a favourite, the life size portraits in Room 5 along with the spectacular paintings of the Wolds and the Four Seasons videos were probably top of Jane's list.

The last weekend of February may not have been a time of celebration for Welsh rugby fans, but it was definitely a great weekend for us – and how appropriate that we spent our annual Reunion Weekend in Wales!   Carl, Graham, Les, Sue, Jane & Chris had a fabulous weekend with almost 100 customers at the Metropole Hotel, in the spa town of Llandrindod Wells - see the photos on our Facebook page!   We had (lots of) good food, good fun, and best of all caught up with so many old friends as well as getting to know some new faces too.  Even a rainy day on Saturday couldn’t dampen our spirits!  We’d like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who joined us for the weekend and to those suppliers who helped to make it such a success, most especially everyone at the Metropole and the ‘ladies in red’ from Builth Wells who sang so beautifully.   We ended the weekend with a delicious lunch at the Hallmark Hotel at Stourport-on-Severn and - surprise, surprise - this is the venue for next year’s Reunion!  Sue is already taking provisional bookings (subject to confirmation when further details/pricing is available), so do please give us a call or email if you would like to join us?  Sad news, though, for 'Reunioners' - we're sorry to tell you that Frank Goodley passed away this week.

A BIG thank you to Gary, Carl & Graham for organising our (late) Staff Xmas Party at the Stage.  Great night guys - although still not quite sure how Sue & Graham's team managed to win the quizzes?????????

Jane & Chris have also been down to Bournemouth to visit two hotels that will be featuring in our 2017 Door2Door brochure – the Durley Dean on the West Cliff and the Hallmark Carlton on the East Cliff and each about a 10 minute stroll to the Pier and town centre.   The Durley Dean is a good standard 3 star property, with a magnificent Victorian style restaurant – it’s the venue for our summer holiday in this popular south coast resort.  The Hallmark Carlton is a 4 star hotel, overlooking the bay, and we are booked in for a festive ‘Mistletoe & Wine’tour in November and for our 2017 Christmas tour.

HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh have been to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo to open a new elephant enclosures.  Our next trip to the UK's biggest zoo will be on Friday 2 June!

Tate Britain's David Hockney exhibition has been one of the fastest selling exhibitions ever hosted by the gallery.  The Times has given it a 5 star review.  Don't miss our Thursday 4 May day excursion to see it!  The exhibition is an extensive selection of some of the artist's most famous paintings, drawings, prints and photography across six decades!

Hereford Cathedral – Wed 31 May.  If you come with us on this visit to the historic cathedral, it gives you the chance to view the amazing, 13th century Mappa Mundi as well as the chained library where many ancient tomes are housed - including the 8th century Hereford Gospels.  The cathedral has long had a unique relationship with the SAS. The SAS Regimental Association has commissioned a memorial – a wonderful sculpture and stunning new stained glass window entitled ‘Ascension’ by John Main RA that are now in situ.

Mrs. Brown's Boys is back on our small screens!  Let us know ASAP if you want to see the new show 'Good Mourning Mrs Brown' at Nottingham Arena on Friday 9th June!

42nd STREET -  Don’t miss Grammy Award winner Sheena Easton as she is scheduled to join the huge all singing, high-kicking cast as Dorothy Brock alongside Tom Lister as Julian Marsh and Clare Halse as Peggy Sawyer.  Featuring the iconic songs 42nd Street, We’re In The Money, Lullaby Of Broadwayand Shuffle Off To Buffalo, 42nd STREET arrives on the West End’s biggest stage, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, in spring 2017.  Join us for our trip to this amazing spectacular at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on Wednesday 25 October!

Stepping Out at the Vaudeville Theatre opened 15 March and there are some good reviews – here are some of the comments!

‘There are some spot on performances in this West End Revival of Richard Harris’s likeable play about hoofers in a church hall’.

‘There are matchingly accomplished turns wherever you look’.

‘Although the women rule the roost, an honourable mention must go to the mild-mannered insurance-man Geoffrey, who before the dancing comes together at the 11th hour, in a welter of top-hats and tumbling ticker-tape, tap-springs about like a demented pony. Fun’.

‘But the show builds neatly to its can-do, feelgood, tap-dancing finale in which the participants overcome loneliness, resentment, class difference and a preponderance of left feet to strut their stuff together’.

‘And when they do finally dance, you want to dance too!’.

Scheduled to star Amanda Holden & friends, join us on Wednesday 3 May for this fun, feel good show!

Queens Gallery & Royal Mews – Wed 13 September - Canaletto

The Royal Collection contains the world's finest group of paintings, drawings and prints by Venice's most famous view-painter, Canaletto (1697-1768) and were bought by the young George III in 1762 from Canaletto's agent and dealer Joseph Smith, British Consul in Venice.

This new exhibition ‘The Art of Venice’, set in the Queens Gallery, presents a spectacular selection of eighteenth-century Venetian art, with Canaletto's greatest works shown alongside paintings and works on paper by Sebastiano and Marco Ricci, Francesco Zuccarelli, Rosalba Carriera, Pietro Longhi and Giovanni Battista Piazzetta. The exhibition explores the many delights of eighteenth-century Venice, from the splendours of the Grand Canal and St Mark's Square to its festivals, theatre and masked carnival, bringing the irresistible allure of the most beautiful city in the world to The Queen's Gallery.  Before the splendour of the these works, spend some time in the Royal Mews where you should be able to see the Diamond Jubilee Coach and the famous Windsor Greys carriage horses along with other state carriages and livery!
