Spend the day in Bakewell, the Capital of the Peak District and home to the famous Bakewell Pudding! 2000 years ago the Romans discovered the warm springs of Bakewell and it’s been attracting visitors ever since. Monday is market day and Bakewell’s relaxed and friendly stalls have been welcoming shoppers since 1330! You’ll find fresh food, fashions, furnishings and everything in between at the largest market in the Derbyshire Dales - with around 100 tempting stalls! Take a walk along the river, passing the 14th century five-arched Gothic bridge (one of the oldest in the country) or wander through Bath Gardens which offer a peaceful spot after the buzz of the market. Expect to find roaming wildfowl and charming cottages set amongst the winding, tranquil banks of the River Wye. With mellow stone buildings and quaint courtyards, Bakewell is a magnet for painters, photographers and sightseers alike. Thinly disguised as 'Lambton' in Jane Austen's literary classic Pride and Prejudice, it’s the ideal place for an interesting town walk.

We've partnered with Bakewell Old House Museum who are offering Shaws' customers a free guide (worth £1.50) on production of your Shaws' coach ticket. This award-winning museum sits inside a beautiful Tudor building and explores stories of previous inhabitants and owners including Sir Richard Arkwright (entry fee approx. £7).

The coach is due to arrive at 11:45 and depart at 16:45 from Bakewell Coach Park. There will be a 45 minute comfort break at Notcutts Garden Centre in Nottingham en route. Click for Visit Peak District's handy guide to Bakewell.
