Step back in time at Beamish Museum where a multi-million-pound ‘Remaking Beamish’ project has seen the opening of exciting new exhibits including a 1950s Town and Farm (featuring a hairdresser, a pavilion and a chip shop) a Bus Depot and the expansion of the 1820s Landscape - this ambitious project is the biggest development in the history of Beamish! The most recent new additions, in 2024, saw the opening of a 1950s cinema, toy shop and electrical shop, as well as the Georgian Drovers Tavern and pottery! This world-famous, open-air museum takes you on an immersive journey through life in the north-east from the 1820s to the 1950s. Step inside a 1900s town and colliery, peep inside a pit village cottage, ride the colourful, heritage trams and experience wartime farming. There’s a full day's worth of discovery at Beamish along with a fitting choice of eateries including a tea room, chip shop and pub. Find out more.
