A Jewel in the Crown of Suffolk, with 1,000 years of ancient history just waiting to be discovered. Nowadays, Bury St Edmunds is known as 'Suffolk's Foodie Capital' with everything from award-winning fine dining to quality, home-cooked, local pub grub. For beer lovers, Greene King has been brewing in Bury St Edmunds for more than 200 years, whilst shoppers will find plenty of choice with a great mix of fantastic independents and High Street favourites along the medieval streets and in the Georgian squares. On top of all that, you'll find a wonderful array of local produce and everything from authentic Italian shirts, Portuguese pottery, vintage clothes and colourful plants and flowers at today’s award-winning market, which is almost as old as the town’s magnificent Abbey.

1000 years ago Bury St. Edmunds was a wealthy pilgrimage location with visitors flocking to the Abbey of St Edmund, founded in 1020. The Abbey ruins and the 14 acre, award-winning Abbey Gardens remain just as popular with visitors to this day. This fascinating site is looked after by English Heritage with free entry for all. Start planning your time here with Visit Bury St Edmunds.

The Bury Society have produced an interesting self-guided walking trail that offers a wonderful way of seeing the town. Download the Blue Plaques Trail and find out where Charles Dickens twice stayed in this "handsome little town of thriving and cleanly appearance" (described in his own words).

Includes return travel and a reserved coach seat. The coach is due to arrive in Bury St. Edmunds at 11:15 and depart at 16:45, setting down and picking up on Angel Hill.
