Spend a summer's day in the glorious spa town of Buxton, high in the Peaks. Buxton Pump Room now doubles as the Visitor Centre with some fascinating insights into the town's past and some lovely souvenirs to pick up - this could be the perfect place to start your day, it's free entry and you can even fill up your bottle for free with fresh Buxton water. It's free entry to the Gallery in the Gardens within which you'll find a showcase of over 40 local artists and craftspeople that celebrate the High Peaks. A wander through the beautiful Cavendish Shopping Arcade is a must, not only will you find some lovely local retailers but you'll find some interesting information about the building's history - it was the original site of the natural water springs discovered by the Romans and was used as Buxton Baths for many years with attractive tile friezes throughout. Start planning your day with Visit Buxton.
