Once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, much of what you’ll see today is the result of the remarkable efforts of William Waldorf Astor, who used his fortune to restore the castle in the early 20th century. The panelled rooms are richly decorated and full of fine furniture and antiques. Outside, the magnificent gardens are adorned with classical statuary, a maze, a lake and woodland walks. The English Rose Garden contains over 5,000 rose bushes which should be a kaleidoscope of colour at this time of year. In summer, the herbaceous border blooms with hundreds of perennials and the Mediterranean-style planting within the Pompeiian Wall bursts into life. Last June, the castle re-opened the rooms of the Boleyn Apartment which have been entirely refurbished - this suite of rooms on the castle’s first floor is the only surviving rooms occupied by the Boleyn family! Don't miss their special exhibition for 2025, The Costumes of Wolf Hall, which features a unique display telling the story of the Tudor Court from Thomas Cromwell's perspective through costumes from the acclaimed TV drama Wolf Hall. Find out about all the wonderful things you can see & do at Hever Castle.
