There's nothing quite like a traditional English village. Tudor facades, sloping rooftops, a lush village green, clear and gentle river waters - and that's just what you'll find in Long Melford. This quaint country village was made famous by artists Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable, and as a filming location for the BBC's Lovejoy - visit once and you'll see why. Take a stroll down the main street for an eclectic mix of independent shops, galleries, antique centres and tea rooms or soak up the scenery on a riverside walk. Start planning your time in Long Melford.
Lavenham is considered Britain’s best preserved medieval village with over 300 listed buildings. The colourful timber framed homes and shops that line the narrow streets are a pretty reminder of the town's rich Tudor past. Once an important wool town, you’ll now find it thriving with independent boutiques, renowned restaurants and plenty of cafés and pubs to choose from. We recommend picking up a complimentary walking map from Love Lavenham (available from most outlets in the village) and taking yourself on a tour of this quirky village.
The coach is due to arrive in Long Melford at 11:30 and depart at 14:00. Continue to Lavenham arriving at 14:30 and departing at 17:00. The will be a short comfort stop at Cambridge Services on the outward journey.
