Sited in the grounds of a great Elizabethan house, framed by a rich Kentish landscape of woods, farmland, lakes and streams, the famous Sissinghurst Castle Garden, with its pink brick tower, is the result of creative tension between the formal design approach of Harold Nicolson and the abundant planting preferences of his wife, Vita Sackville-West. The layers of colour, intimacy of different garden ‘rooms’ and rich herbaceous borders are the epitome of an English garden. Download a map of the estate for a choice of two peaceful walks. Head inside the fairytale Tower and the atmospheric Big Room - two of the few remaining buildings at Sissinghurst that the couple lived and worked in. Enjoy panoramic views of the formal garden and estate from the top of the Tower and take a peep at Vita’s Writing Room which remains almost as she left it in 1962 following its delicate restoration in 2023.

Discount available for National Trust members. Just £45 for adults and £42.50 for seniors/children, just let us know in special requests and don't forget your membership card when you travel.

The coach is due to arrive at 12:30 and depart at 16:00. There will be a comfort stop at Birchanger Services on the outward and return journeys.

Book now, pay later! Same friendly booking team, same professional drivers, just new (excited) owners who take over on 3 May 2025 - we won't take payment until after this date. View more summer tours.
