Start the day in Suffolk's beautiful market town Woodbridge, on the banks of the River Deben and just on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Amongst the great choice of shops and restaurants we also recommend a wander along the riverside paths to Tide Mill - an 800 year old working tide mill, one of only two left in the country! You may even be lucky enough to spot a local seal as you make your way there.

Then on to Sutton Hoo - a discovery made in 1939 that's still shedding light on the Anglo-Saxon 'Dark Ages'. It seems hard to believe that a site that still holds so many mysteries can have uncovered so much already. Visit the Royal Burial Ground, see a full-size replica of the Anglo-Saxon ship found buried here and find out the real story of 'The Dig', recently made famous by Netflix. There's also 245 acres of grounds to explore with some wonderful trails.

We're due to arrive in Woodbridge at 11:45 for a two hour wander, then on to Sutton Hoo, arriving at 14:00. We're due to depart Sutton Hoo at 17:00, giving you a full afternoon to soak up this fascinating site.
