Friday
Cross the Solent and check in at your seaside hotel.
Saturday
Spend the day at leisure on Sandown’s sheltered bay. The 2-mile coastal path (flat seawall walk and cliff path) stretches all the way from Sandown to Shanklin and makes a wonderful adventure. Tonight is Sandown's annual carnival procession which leaves Sandown Library at 7pm and passes behind the hotel along the High Street towards Beachfield Road - set to be another lively and colourful event!
Sunday
Head to the Wroxall Valley to spend time with a guide at the island’s Donkey Sanctuary. This unique rescue charity is home to over 100 donkeys and Shetland ponies and was voted Best Large Attraction at the 2022 IOW Awards. Finish up in the ancient port of Yarmouth, at the mouth of the River Yar, where you’ll find some of the island’s oldest architecture including a 16th century castle and a restored Victorian pier.
Monday
Spend the afternoon at Queen Victoria’s lavish ‘holiday home’, Osborne House, where the sumptuous furnishings and immaculate gardens give a glimpse into the Royal Family’s extravagant lifestyle. Gain a sense of colonial history in the State Rooms, imagine family time on the private beach and enjoy a riot of colour in the Italianate gardens (renovated in 2017 when plants as old as the building itself were uncovered!).
Tuesday
Spend a while at the classic seaside resort of Ryde before experiencing the golden age of travel on the IOW Steam Railway. Pass through unspoilt countryside and ancient woodland in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages. Round off the day in the quintessentially English village of Godshill.
Wednesday
Enjoy your last full day at leisure in the delightful resort of Sandown.
