Spend time at Waddesdon Manor – an exquisite French-Renaissance-style château in the heart of Buckinghamshire. This astonishing 6,000 acre estate was built to house treasures and portraits collected by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild including a magnificent silver dinner service made for George III. Outside, the garden’s focal point is the Victorian-style Parterre – famed for its colorful seasonal bedding and ornate Rococo-style Aviary. At this time of year, you can usually expect the scillas, daffodils and tulips to be bursting with colour. After check in, take time for a dip in the hotel pool or relax in the courtyard.
Thursday
Explore the ‘City of Dreaming Spires’ this morning with free time in Oxford. The Ashmolean is home to everything from prehistoric archeology to Renaissance art whilst The Weston Library (part of the world-famous Bodleian Libraries) are hosting two inspiring exhibitions that feature the incredible works of John le Carré and Jane Austen (here until April only). Shopping is better than ever following the re-development of Westgate – head up to the stylish roof terrace for awesome city views. This afternoon, drive through the Chiltern Hills to Henley-on-Thames, hosts of the world’s greatest rowing regatta for over 175 years! As one of the most beautiful towns in England (as voted by The Times and The Telegraph) it is a must visit, especially as we have included a one-hour luxury sightseeing cruise along the beautiful Henley Royal Regatta Reach between the Marsh and Hambledon Locks, with pre-recorded commentary as you sail.
