Friday
A sterling morning awaits with a guided tour at the award-winning Royal Mint Experience. Get exclusive access to the Coin Circulating Room where the UK’s coins have been made since 1968 and discover the secret methods used to ensure our extraordinary coins are amongst the most secure in the world. Discover historic numismatic artefacts in the self-guided exhibition and finish up in the café and gift shop. From here, continue to Rhondda Heritage Park for an immersive Welsh Coal Mining Experience. The Black Gold Experience is led by miners that worked here as boys with moving, authentic and amusing tales to tell about life underground, the tour finishes with an exciting, simulated ride on a DRAM! Please note that the mine has naturally uneven ground including a mix of concrete paths and blister paving and there is a slight incline - suitable footwear is advised.
Saturday
Head to the Welsh capital this morning and explore Cardiff at your leisure. It's free entry to The Museum of Cardiff where you can uncover the city's stories through the eyes of people that lived here, and free entry to the National Museum Cardiff Art Galleries - home to one of Europe's finest collections and just a short walk from the centre. This afternoon, delve even further into the history of Wales at St Fagans National Museum of History. This open-air site features over 40 reconstructed buildings from different historical periods throughout Wales. You'll find a timber-framed farmhouse from 1678, a post office from 1936 and even an iron age roundhouse at this incredible heritage attraction.
Sunday
Soak up mesmerising scenery in the Brecon Beacons National Park this morning with a vintage rail journey from Pant to Torpantau, and back again. Sit back and relax as a beautifully restored locomotive steams through lush woodland, past sparkling reservoirs and beneath towering mountains with a new vista around every corner. Perhaps pop into the small cafe at Pant Station before we continue to Hensol Castle Distillery - producers of award-winning spirits and Wales' first full-scale distillery. Your guided tour includes a visit the sweet smelling botanical room and a tutored gin tasting.

Time to head back across the border to home.
