Customers loved our Christmas visit to this beautifully unique, double-moated, castle in Kent so we’re eager to return in summer when the gardens will be alive with colour. Once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, much of what you’ll see today is the result of the remarkable efforts of William Waldorf Astor, who used his fortune to restore the castle in the early 20th century. The panelled rooms are richly decorated and full of fine furniture and antiques. Outside, the magnificent gardens are adorned with classical statuary, a maze, a lake and woodland walks. The English Rose Garden contains over 5,000 rose bushes which should be a kaleidoscope of colour at this time of year. In summer, the herbaceous border blooms with hundreds of perennials and the Mediterranean-style planting in with the Pompeiian Wall bursts into life. Look out for the opening of the Boleyn Apartment in June - a suite of rooms on the castle’s first floor are being transformed with Tudor artefacts and furnishings to become the only surviving rooms occupied by the Boleyn family!
