Begin the day on the banks of the River Deben in Suffolk’s vibrant market town of Woodbridge, home to the oldest working Tide Mill in the country and the place where Sir Francis Drake’s fighting ships were built! Continue to Sutton Hoo (NT) – the most important Anglo-Saxon site in the UK. As WWII loomed, one of the greatest discoveries of all time was being unearthed - an ancient royal ship burial with a wealth of precious artefacts including the iconic decorated helmet.

Includes entry to Sutton Hoo, free time in Woodbridge, return travel and a return coach seat. The coach is due to arrive in Woodbridge at 11:45 and will depart at 13:45, setting down and picking up at Deben Swimming Pool. Continue to Sutton Hoo, arriving at 14:00 and departing at 17:00. There will be a short comfort stop at Cambridge Services on the outward journey. National Trust Members must bring their membership card to gain free entry to Sutton Hoo. Please note that entry does not include access to the Royal Burial Ground but it can be viewed from the 17m viewing tower and that paths around the site are trails (trampers can be hired).

You might also like The British Museum (home of the famous helmet) on Fri 2 Oct, Seahenge & Hunstanton on Tue 20 Oct or Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds on Wed 28 Oct (see page 11 of our brochure for more information).
