Why visit Galloway? As you cross the border at Gretna Green and head west along the memorable shorelines of the Solway Firth, you'll enter a world of spectacular unspoilt scenery, rugged coastlines, deep green forests and beautiful exotic gardens - all blessed by a climate that’s warmed by the Gulf Stream! Sunday
Enjoy a scenic drive to the hotel.
Monday
Pause for a wildlife spotting photo opportunity at Red Deer Range before arriving in Newton Stewart to spend time in this quaint market town on the banks of the River Cree. This afternoon, get up close to Highland cows and learn about local farming traditions during a ‘Kitchen Coos & Ewes’ guided highland tour. This unique experience takes you deep into the countryside, towed by a tractor and seated in a trailer, with cream tea included, at Airyolland Farm.
Tuesday
Look for the distinctive shape of Ailsa Craig as we take the coast road to Robert Burns Birthplace Museum which holds over 5,000 artefacts and the opportunity to visit the humble cottage where life began for Scotland’s national poet. Then to cliff-top Culzean Castle & Country Park (NTS), designed by Robert Adam in the late 18th century, this treasure trove is bursting with priceless pieces from one of the oldest clans in Scotland.
Wednesday
Experience the exotic at Logan Botanic Garden where an almost sub-tropical climate enables fascinating plants from around the world to flourish! Visit the picture-postcard, pastel-coloured harbour town of Portpatrick, where cliffs surround the small bay. This afternoon, wander in Castle Kennedy Gardens, where you’ll find a riot of colour in the Walled Garden & rare Victorian waterlilies in the round pond – with impressive castle ruins as your backdrop.
