Why visit South Wales? The Gower offers something that can be surprisingly hard to find in summer: space, beautiful scenery, and the feeling that time has slowed down just enough for you to enjoy it. This year, one of Britain's most over-looked summer holiday spots celebrates 70 years as the UK’s very first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This treasured National Landscape is a place where rugged cliffs, golden beaches and rolling countryside unite as a symbol of Britain’s commitment to preserving its most extraordinary landscapes. The oldest buried human remains in Britain were found on The Gower, proving that this one-of-a-kind region has been popular for more than 30,000 years!

Why visit with Shaws? In 2024 99% of our holiday customers said they would book again and 99% also said they would recommend us to a friend. In 2025 passengers rated our holidays 4.7/5 for value for money and we've earned the same 4.7/5 star rating on Google reviews. Shaws Coaches has a strong reputation for a dependable service, with a proven track record for punctuality and professionalism. Our friendly booking team and highly-rated tour drivers are ready to welcome you.

What do our customers say? "Tenby did not disappoint - great place" • "Very many thanks to the driver for looking after us so well"

Monday

Check in and relax with tea/coffee & biscuits.

Tuesday

Follow the river Gwili through glorious countryside during a 1.5-hour return ride on the vintage Gwili Steam Railway. Classic carriages depart from the new station at Abergwii Junction, keep a look out for herons catching lunch and wildlife exploring the woodland. There’s time to visit the museum and take a trip on the miniature railway before an afternoon at Aberglasney Gardens. The restored Elizabethan Cloister Garden is a rare find and the Sunken Garden was inspired by one of our favourite places - Great Dixter. The hydrangea and roses should be spectacular in summer. Enjoy a Welsh themed dinner this evening.

Wednesday

Spend the morning at The National Botanic Garden of Wales. This award-winning site boasts an Apothecary Garden, a Regency Double Walled Garden, the largest single span Glasshouse in the world, an exotic Tropical House and much more. Time for a few treasured hours at leisure in the seaside town of Tenby soaking up its friendly vibe and glorious views over the small harbour and beautiful soft beaches, backed by pastel-coloured homes.

Thursday

Time for a day on the glorious Gower Peninsular - the first place in Britain to be named a National Landscape. Be met by a friendly guide at the Gower Heritage Centre who’ll take you on a coach tour around glorious bays and dramatic cliffs before returning to base for a Welsh themed lunch. Finish with a guided tour of this working 12th century water-powered mill before returning to the hotel.

Friday

Take the scenic route home via the Vale of Neath and the Heads of the Valley, pausing in the Welsh market town of Abergavenny.
