Rocky crags, rolling hills and colourful heather with traditional market towns dotted between create the most relaxing setting in which to enjoy some of the country’s top destinations, all from your base in the pretty spa town of Ilkley.

Monday
Travel to the spa town of Ilkley with a refreshing tea/coffee waiting for you on arrival.
Tuesday
Spend the day in the friendly market town of Skipton, surrounded by rolling green hills, with calming canal waters running through it. Don't miss the Gatehouse to their impressive 900-year-old medieval castle. We’ll finish the day with a peaceful, interesting cruise along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal with tea/coffee served on board.
Wednesday
Carve your way through the Dales to the Eden Valley on board the world-famous Settle-Carlisle Line. Enjoy panoramic views along 72 miles of unspoilt countryside, encountering 14 tunnels and 20 viaducts, including the iconic Ribblehead, before crossing in to Cumbria to the historic city of Carlisle. There’s time to find a nice spot for lunch before the return journey.
Thursday
It’s no more than 15 minutes’ walk to the centre of Ilkley from the hotel so why not spend the morning amongst the independent shops and inviting tea rooms, including a branch of the famous Betty’s! This afternoon, we’ll escape to Harewood House, set within 100 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown landscape and home to an exquisite collection of Chippendale furniture within Robert Adam’s stunning interiors.
Friday
This morning we’ll delve into the stunning landscapes at RHS Harlow Carr where a wander along the lavish Main Borders are a must. They’ll be a transfer to Harrogate centre if you’d prefer to explore another of Yorkshire’s fine spa towns instead. There will be time to grab lunch before heading home.
