Monday
Take a leisurely walk around Marine Lake, head to the beach, wander down the second longest pier in Britain or hit the shops in the seaside town of Southport before spending the afternoon at Rufford Old Hall. This fine Tudor and Jacobean house with a colourful, manicured garden holds five centuries of family history. The Great Hall definitely has the wow factor with its 16th century carved screen and it’s easy to imagine family dinners at the food- laden table in the Hesketh Dining Room.
Tuesday
Liverpool is one of England’s most cultural destinations with a wealth of museums and galleries. Find contemporary art at Tate Liverpool, uncover the city’s history at the Museum of Liverpool, submerge yourself in Liverpool’s seafaring past at the Maritime Museum, experience musical mayhem at the Cavern Club, relive the 60s at the Beatles Story, wander along the waterfront, take a ferry cross The Mersey and so much more – the day is yours to explore! We’ve arranged an introductory coach tour which includes a visit to the impressive Anglican Cathedral.
Wednesday
You’ll find some artistically crafted pieces at Pilkington’s World of Glass. Learn how they are made and uncover the history of glass from Ancient Egypt to Victorian life in St. Helens before spending your final afternoon relaxing in Southport. Enjoy the sea air or head to Lord Street, the resort’s Parisian themed, tree-lined shopping boulevard. Southport Market, on King Street, was relaunched in 2021 to become a food & drink destination, full of social and local eating choices and featuring a carousel themed bar in the centre!
Thursday
Head home via the contemporary designs and stylish planting at RHS Garden Bridgewater. This stunning new garden is set in the grounds of 19th century Worsley New Hall, designers have seamlessly blended history with world-class horticulture.
